This project reimagined an 1895 English Gothic townhouse for a family of four, creating a sophisticated, functional home that shifts seamlessly between everyday living and frequent entertaining. The dining room centers on a family table supported by two custom demi-lune pieces that typically sit against the walls but can be attached to either end, extending seating to sixteen. The adjacent living room serves as both a cozy family space and an elegant gathering spot, arranged to allow guests to sit or mingle comfortably.
A major highlight was uncovering and restoring an original mosaic floor hidden beneath a wood overlay, now a striking focal point of the home. Upstairs, we replaced a plain plank floor with reclaimed European parquet, adding texture and a connection to the building’s history. Overall, the design honors the home’s architectural character while delivering flexible, multipurpose spaces tailored to the client’s lifestyle.
